Emily VanCamp Online – 20th Anniversary

Warning: Undefined variable $post_id in /home/vancamp/public_html/wp-content/themes/secretsmilewp02/index.php on line 24
20 years ago today, I started what I thought would be a small tribute website to the actress Emily VanCamp. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that two whole decades later, the site would still be standing strong and tall. Not only that, but I’m immensely delighted to say it’s the longest running and largest fansite out there on the internet for the lovely Emily.

Thank you to everyone who has helped along the way! I couldn’t have done it without you. Literally. This goes for all my past co-webs, people who have donated pictures/media, those who have sent me news, friends who gave constant words of encouragement and everyone in between. I’m so thankful for you all.

Em, the second I saw you on my screen all those years ago I knew you were something special. I was young, but I just knew. You’re a rare and incredible talent and a true gem of a human being. I’m so lucky and honored to be a fan of yours. I’m tremendously proud of all the work you have done in film and television. Keep killing it! I’ll always be looking forward to what comes next for you. You’ve had my support since the very beginning and you will always have it. ♥

20 years. It’s felt both like forever and also like no time has passed at all. I’m incredibly humbled by the support I’ve gotten over the many years the site has been online. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for visiting and being a fan of Emily just like myself. I’m so happy that I can still bring you all the latest Emily news this many years later. I feel like I say this every year but it continues to ring true: here’s to many more years to come! Not going anywhere anytime soon, that’s for sure.

Also! I’m reposting this Emily message where she mentioned the 20 years (the video was recorded back in 2021 so the anniversary obviously had not happened yet). Appropriate day to show this again, no? For those curious, this was made possible by the Revenge Reunion add-ons a few years back. Thank you so much again for this, Em ♥

Michelle Danner, the director of Emily’s upcoming film, Miranda’s Victim, posted a small update on her Instagram regarding it. Through her message, she has confirmed that the film will come out sometime next year in 2023.
Hi, everyone. I’m here at the final stages of sound design on Miranda’s Victim. I cannot wait for you all to see it next year. I just wanted to wish you a Happy Holidays. Stay creative during this time, hug the people that you love, and Happy New Year!”

“Captain America: New World Order “- Emily TBD

The title for the upcoming Captain America film will be called Captain America: New World Order. If you’ve seen The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, you know that Sam Wilson takes the mantle at the end. In that same vein, the end credits scene opens up the possibility of the Power Broker (aka Sharon Carter)’s further involvement in the MCU. Emily has yet to be officially announced as part of the cast of the new Cap film, but with her character belonging in Cap movies, it’d be surprising if she wasn’t included in some capacity. As I hear any confirmed reports one way or the other, I’ll be sure to update you all. The film is scheduled to be released sometime in 2024.

Emily to star in biological crime drama, “Miranda’s Victim”

EXCLUSIVE: Emily VanCamp (The Resident), Sebastian Quinn (Dynasty), Enrique Murciano (Panic), Brent Sexton (Long Slow Exhale) and Josh Bowman (Revenge) will round out the cast of Michelle Danner’s courtroom drama, Miranda’s Victim. They join a stacked ensemble led by Abigail Breslin, which also includes Luke Wilson, Andy Garcia, Donald Sutherland, Ryan Phillippe, Mireille Enos, Kyle MacLachlan and Taryn Manning, as previously announced.

The film will tell the true story of Trish Weir (Breslin), who in 1963 was kidnapped and brutally raped by Ernesto Miranda (Quinn). Committed to putting her assailant in prison, Trish’s life is destroyed by America’s legal system as she triggers a law that transforms the nation. Her case notably results in the establishment of the Miranda rights afforded to criminal suspects taken in police custody, to ensure the admissibility of statements made during interrogation, as part of subsequent criminal proceedings.

VanCamp will play Trish’s loving and supportive sister Ann Weir, who is her rock through this ordeal. Murciano will portray Detective Cooley, with Sexton as Sergeant Nealis and Bowman as Trish’s husband Charles, who was left in the dark about her trauma. The film written by George Kolber and J. Craig Stiles is currently in production in New Jersey, with Danner and Kolber producing alongside Valerie Debler, Brian Drillinger and Alexandra Guarnieri. The production company involved is Navesink River Productions.

VanCamp plays Nicolette Nevin on Fox’s medical drama The Resident and has also recently appeared on series including The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Revenge. Notable film credits include Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, The Ring Two and No Good Deed.

Quinn has appeared in films like La Flamme Rouge, as well as such series as NCIS, Dynasty and The Affair.

Murciano played Detective Marco Diaz on Netflix’s popular crime drama Bloodline and has also been seen on such series as Panic, Tell Me Your Secrets, Briarpatch, The Blacklist, Hap and Leonard and Power. Notable film credits include Bright, Rough Night, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Black Hawk Down. He’ll next be seen in the HBO Max rom-com Father of the Bride and Netflix’s series The Night Agent.

Sexton recently appeared on the series Long Slow Exhale from Spectrum Originals and BET and has also recently been seen on shows including American Crime Story, Hacks and The Expanse. He’s also been seen in such films as Irresistible, The Belko Experiment, W., In the Valley of Elah, Flightplan and Radio, among others.

Bowman’s credits include BBC drama’s Our Girl, ABC’s Time After Time and Revenge, and the Naomi Watts thriller The Desperate Hour.

VanCamp is represented by UTA, Thruline Entertainment and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole; Quinn by Industry Entertainment; Murciano by Gersh and Entertainment 360; Sexton by Greene & Associates; and Bowman by Gersh, United Agents in the UK and Inspire Entertainment.

The Resident Twist: Emily VanCamp to Return in S5 Finale

Warning: Undefined variable $post_id in /home/vancamp/public_html/wp-content/themes/secretsmilewp02/index.php on line 24

The Resident fans haven’t seen the last of Nic Nevin, despite her tragic death last year.

Emily VanCamp, who exited the Fox drama at the start of its current fifth season, will return to the series in its upcoming Season 5 finale, TVLine has learned.

As co-showrunner Peter Elkoff tells us, VanCamp will appear in “four, maybe five” flashback scenes during the May 17 season ender, which will be used as a storytelling device to help Conrad move on from his relationship with Nic and pursue romance with another woman — either Jessica Lucas’ Billie, or Kaley Ronayne’s Cade.

“He hasn’t been able to make a move and find that next love. He knows that he’s still stuck in the past, in a way, with Nic,” Elkoff explains. “At the top of Episode 23, he realizes he has to unstick himself, and he doesn’t quite know how to do it. He gets some good advice about it. And he’s basically circling the memory of this one night when Gigi was just born. He keeps going back to pieces of that night, because he thinks the answer of how he moves on is in that night… and he gets an answer, a realization that frees him in a certain way.”

Elkoff adds that although Nic’s return via flashbacks wasn’t proposed until later in the season, he and the Resident writers have been looking for the right way to set Conrad up with someone new ever since the show’s three-year time jump earlier in Season 5.

“We started to realize, what would hold a person back? Well, the love of his life who died. The mother of his young daughter,” he continues. “We had to figure out a way to both free him and end that chapter. Emily was really up for the idea of coming back, so we built her story around that idea.”

The news of VanCamp’s Resident departure broke last August, several weeks before the show returned for Season 5. In the season’s first two episodes, Nic was kept off-screen at a spa retreat, and she was later involved in a car accident on the way home from her trip; Nic ultimately died in the Oct. 5 episode, when she succumbed to her significant head injuries.

“I spent so many years on network television, but then suddenly priorities shifted,” VanCamp told Deadline at the time of her exit, shortly after she’d welcomed daughter Iris with real-life spouse Josh Bowman. “I think there comes a moment in every woman’s life — in every person’s life — where it becomes less about work and more about family, and that’s what happened while I was making the show.”

New Project: Film Adaptation of “The Captive”

Warning: Undefined variable $post_id in /home/vancamp/public_html/wp-content/themes/secretsmilewp02/index.php on line 24

It’s been quiet on the Emily front since she had her little Iris last year. I hope she is enjoying motherhood ♥

So we finally have a new project on the horizon! Emily’s husband, Josh Bowman, did a podcast recently to promote his short film, The Night Passenger. In the clip below, he mentions Emily is attached to a future project of his – a film adaptation of the novel, The Captive, by Fiona King Foster.

Now, this project is still in the very early stages. They’re still writing the script and Josh has another project to film before he gets to The Captive. So, it will be a little while until this all comes into fruition but I know it will be worth the wait! I just bought the book recently and cannot wait to read it.

Here is a synopsis of what the book is about:

A rural noir about a woman on a pulse-pounding expedition to deliver a fugitive—and forced to confront her own past on the journey

In a secessionist rural state that has cut itself off completely from urban centers, where living is hardscrabble and poor but “free,” Brooke Holland runs a farm with her husband, Milo, and two daughters. Their life at the fringes of modern society is tenuous—they make barely enough from each harvest to keep going—yet Brooke cherishes the loving, peaceful life they have carved out for themselves. She has even begun to believe she is free from the violent history she has kept a secret from her family.

When escaped criminal Stephen Cawley attacks at the farm, Brooke’s buried talents surface, and she manages to quickly and harshly subdue him. She is convinced that he has come in retribution for the blood feud she thought she escaped years ago. Brooke sets out to bring Cawley to justice, planning to use the bounty on his head to hide her family far from danger. Fearing that other members of Cawley’s infamous family will soon descend, Brooke insists Milo and the girls flee with her, travelling miles on foot across an unforgiving landscape to reach the nearest marshal. Their journey, started at the onset of winter with little preparation, brings already strained family dynamics to the breaking point. As Brooke’s ghosts—both real and imagined—close in, the ruthlessness that let her survive her past may become the biggest threat to her hopes for a different future. What follows is a harrowing exploration of family loyalty, trauma, and resilience.

As haunting and propulsive as it is powerfully written, The Captive is a thrilling debut novel about the impossible choices we make to survive and protect the ones we love.

Farewell, Nic Nevin ♥
